So you went to the "No Kings" rally- now what are you going to do?

Yesterday, we saw an unprecedented and historic turnout for No King's Rallies across the United States of America. Contrary to the propaganda coming from the White House, this was not led by Antifa or paid for by George Soros. These were regular people—most of whom, of course were Democrats—with a smattering of Independents and Republicans in the mix. These rallies were of unprecedented size, and they were peaceful.
Unlike the rioters who attacked the Capitol on January 6, these American citizens showed respect for the institutions of government and the rule of law.
So now that you've gone to the rally and shown that you care about democracy, what are you going to do next? This is where things tend to stall out. I would suggest to you that if you live in Montana, you get involved in one of the active campaigns that are going on in this state. Right now, there is a statewide Senate race and races in two congressional districts. Here is the rundown.
· U.S. Senate. Reilly Neil (Democrat challenger) vs. Sen. Steve Daines (Republican incumbent).
· Montana’s First Congressional District. Russell Cleveland (Democrat challenger) vs. Ryan Zinke (Republican incumbent)
· Montana’s Second Congressional District. Me and Sam Lux (both Democrat challengers) vs. Troy Downing (Republican incumbent).
These races are where the rubber hits the road. It's important to show that you care about your democracy by exercising your First Amendment rights, but without candidates in office who actually are responsive to the people, nothing will change. I personally have nothing against conservative values. And in fact, the history of America shows that we have always been a mix of conservative, liberals, and independents. And I, for one, want that state of affairs to remain the same. We are a diverse nation, and we should expect that citizens will have viewpoints on a wide variety of issues and look at matters from different angles. But we should never be a nation of one-party rule, as that would be disastrous for our economy and our civil liberties. Nor should we allow the federal government to unjustly impose tyranny upon the States.
With that said, the current congressman for Montana's second congressional district, Troy Downing, is doing absolutely nothing to help the people of Montana. In my opinion, he is abdicating his constitutional duty, and he is allowing President Trump to take unlimited power in contradiction to his solemn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. He should absolutely not be re-elected.
So, if you live in Montana's second congressional district, which starts in the west with Helena, and continues all the way to the eastern edge of the state, get involved in this race. This is where you can really do something that matters. Whether you support me or my friend Sam Lux is of no importance to me. The important thing is that you get involved. Don't sit on the sidelines. Contribute time or money to help either myself or Sam during the primary so that one of us will be in a good position to have a real race in the general election this season, because that is what is so critical: for if there is no legitimate race, then Congressman Downing will be able to get easily reelected and will never be held accountable for his actions. The only way to hold him accountable is to have a real race in Montana's second congressional district.
So don't just post on Facebook or go to rallies. Get involved in any way you can.

This is your country, too.
