Protect and strengthen social
security

Social security is under threat today like never

before.  And it is not because we don't have 

sufficient money in America; it's because greedy

corporate interests and elites hate social security and want to destroy it for good.

Social security was one of FDR's greatest legacies and reactionary conservative forces in America have been wanting to destroy it for a long, long time.  They simply don't care what happens to seniors in this country.  

​

The Social Security trustee has informed the Congress that Social Security Trust fund will run into solvency problems within six (6) years- if nothing is done, those receiving Social Security will see a 22% reduction in benefits.  Something must be done.

There are various reasons why Social Security is facing these problems.  At the end of the day, it comes down to a lack of funding and changes in some of the predictive assumptions surrounding Social Security needs as reflected in the following chart.

As you can see, there are many reasons why social security is running out of money.  But the top three have to do with lower fertility rates, lack of immigration, and the taxation effects of the One Big Beautiful Bill.  Those factors can be addressed by undoing the the negative effects of the One Big Beautiful Bill and addressing 21st Century immigration reform.  We can, and should, bring immigrant labor into America in a lawful way to help shore up Social Security.

We also need to have a serious discussion about ways to increase funding and potentially cutting some benefits.  These charts outline the problems faced by Social Security.

We can solve this problem of Social Security insolvency.  But like the other issues we are facing in America, we are going to have to decide if we want to continue to let the super wealthy become even more so, while the rest of us suffer.  Doing nothing is not an option.  If elected to Congress, I will make dealing with the Social Security solvency issue one of my top priorities.
