Respect the U.S. Constitution

The U.S. Constitution has been under attack

for several years now.  These attacks come in

various forms, but they all seem to have one

objective: to weaken the powers of the Courts

and the Legislature, and to increase

the power of the Executive.

In Federalist No. 47, James Madison defined "tyranny" as the excessive accumulation of power in one set of hands.  In order to combat against tyranny, the Founders divided power into three branches: the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.  Each has its own sphere of influence and ways of interacting with the others.

The Executive has the power of the sword and the power to act.  The Legislative has the power of the purse and is closest to the People.  The Judicial has only the power of judgment over the operations of the other two and itself.

For this system to work as intended, all three branches must respect the other.  Each of the branches must "stay in their lane".  This requires respect, civility, and tolerance.  This is the way to civil peace.

I fully oppose the efforts of the current Administration to enlarge the power of the Executive beyond its proper bounds.  If elected to Congress, I will do all I can to reestablish the authority and power of the Legislative branch in our Federal affairs.
