The problem isn't President Trump--it's Congress

As anyone who reads The Federalist Papers knows, the Founders always wanted to have an “Energetic Executive”.  And, regardless of what one thinks of the man, no one can deny that President Trump is quite energetic.  In fact, maybe sometimes he is a little too energetic for the Nation's Good.  At a minimum, no one can call the man a Sleepy Joe.

Unfortunately, however, it seems like the man has made a grave error by relying on the advice of Project 2025, Elon Musk, and others who do not understand what the American people really want.

The Founders always anticipated that something like this might happen, which is why they developed a system of checks and balances.  The Courts tell the Executive and Legislative Branches when they’ve gone too far.  The Legislative Branch ensures that the exercise of Executive Authority reflects the Will of the People. For the Constitution to work as intended, All Three Branches must serve their roles.

If President Trump continues to listen to Project 2025 and Elon Musk, and is not willing to voluntarily change course, then Congress can and should direct his energies into the proper channels for him. This, at least, is what the Founders would have wanted.

The solution to this problem is therefore quite simple: Congress simply needs to take back the powers that the Founders intended it to have.  This includes the power to impose tariffs--which the Founders called “indirect taxes”--and setting a Just & Humane National Immigration Policy.

The surrender of Legislative authority to the Executive Branch has been going on for decades.  President Trump did not start this problem, and cannot be blamed for it. This problem has gone on throughout the administrations of both Republican and Democratic presidents since the end of World War II. Thus, we have no one to blame but ourselves for this temporary dilemma.

As the saying goes, "nature abhorrs a vacuum." Since Congress and prior administrations failed to act on these issues, President Trump decided to try something new. His solution to these problems, however, is not a good one. The American people clearly do not approve of the trade war and President Trump' handling of the immigration problem. The People want him to do things differently.  Accordingly, it is up to Congres to right the Ship of State. This is just basic constitutional common sense.

It’s high time to stop focusing on President Trump and start focusing on Congress.   If Congress reasserts its rightful authority and enacts legislation which is in line with the Sentiment of the Nation, President Trump will fall in line and we can quickly get things back on track.
